Let’s hear it for this week’s Service Spotlight recipient, Alex Bee! As with many other members of our close family, Alex joined us for the first time at this year’s MLK Day of Service at Ambrose Kennedy Park and has been a fixture at Semper Fridays and other service opportunities ever since. If he’s not working side by side with volunteers, he’s busy taking great pictures and video to capture our work as a member of T6B’s Media Team. A true humanitarian and community servant, Alex creates new personal connections every time he joins us, and embodies the spirit of our service in an exemplary manner. Alex, thank you for your service.
Dave Landymore (28), from Annapolis, MD, is a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. After joining the Marines in August 2001, Dave spent the majority of his active duty time providing security for U.S. interests at our embassies in Bogota, Colombia and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In December 2006 Dave transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserve, where he served until March 2012 as a Platoon Sergeant at 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As a reservist Dave has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and aboard ship in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Currently an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, pursuing a B.A. in Human Geography, Dave hopes to graduate in Spring 2013. In September 2011, after a UMBC faculty member brought The 6th Branch to his attention, Dave joined the organization as a project coordinator, and assumed the role of Executive Director in April 2012.
